A Beginners Guide To Throat Chakra Healing So you Can Manifest What You Want

The throat chakra, or Vishuddha, the fifth primary energy center within our bodies according to the Hindu tradition of tantra. It is located in the neck, at the base of the throat. It is associated with the nervous system, the pharynx with vocal cords and ears and governs communication, truth, and self-expression.

How to know if you have a Throat Chakra Block?

Do you find it challenging to speak freely  because you’re afraid you’ll be judged?  Are you the kind of person that finds it challenging to say what you need to say, especially when it comes to issues you truly believe in? Perhaps you hold back when it comes to talking about your needs or desires?  Maybe your purpose in life is unclear,  and where it is clear, you haven’t quite figured out how to achieve the results you are aiming for.

If you can answer yes to any of the above questions, or you recognise your behaviour, then it’s likely that you have a Throat Chakra imbalance or block.

Symptoms of a Throat Chakra Imbalance

A throat chakra blockage can show up in following attitudes and behaviours:  Arrogance, deceptiveness, being manipulative, over domineering.  On the flipside this type of block may make you feel anxious, insecure, shy or timid.  People with this block often feel unsafe or threatened, they may become quiet and doubt thier own opinions, and when faced with a challenge they may be afraid of doing things that other people take in thier stride.

Throat Chakra Imbalance and relationships

People with a healthy throat chakra are will be more creative, honest, confident, assertive, and naturally able to express thier truth to the world than those with a block or imbalance.

Most people with Throat Chakra imbalances feel insecure and hold back from getting close to people. They often believe that will not be heard, or they have nothing of worth to say, so they do not bother to speak up or join in conversations. This can cause feelings of not fitting in, loneliness and isolation. Often relationships are full of misunderstandings and missed opportunities for deeper and meaningful connection.

Once you start to nurture your Throat Chakra through the foods you eat, the way you think, and the actions you take, you’ll see an improvement across the whole spectrum of your life.

Here are five ways to promote a healthy throat chakra

1)  Write it out before you talk it out

Words have the power to heal you when you speak your inner truth to yourself.

Become more self aware and mindful of your thinking. During the day, focus on your inner thoughts and listen to how they match up with how you really feel. Without judging your thoughts or feelings be honest with yourself. The more honest you are with yourself the easier it becomes to be clear and honest with other.

Keep a journal and write daily.  Below are some questions to prompt your imagination.

  • What do I want to say right now?
  • What was I too shy or nervous to speak about today?
  • What happened today that was significant or important to me?
  • How am I feeling right now (and what would my inner child say about that)?
  • If I could create anything what would that be and why?
  • What 3 songs have the most meaning for me and why?
  • What’s my deepest secret, and what’s the story behind it?
  • What’s the nicest thing I’ve ever done for myself?
  • What’s one thing about myself that no one would know?

When it comes to speaking your mind to others you might feel challenged to say things out loud at first, so before you speak out it may help you to write them down. Put everything you want to say, your thoughts and feelings, on paper. Once you have your thoughts in order, say what you want to out loud in a private place. Acknowledge your thoughts, feelings and emotions to yourself before your initiate a conversation.

If you really have a problem speaking up, and the thought scares or terrifies you, you may want to consider getting some professional help. I can recommend certain Rapid Intervention Therapies that are very useful in dissolving Throat Chakra fears.  Therapeutic interventions such as Phobia Cures,  NLP or IEMT  are particularly fast and effective.  Yoga Therapy is another great method to help strengthen and open this centre in a gentle and effective way.

2) Eat Foods for the Throat Chakra

According to Ayurveda, eating foods of certain colours will help to realign our energy centers, and encourage healing within your body.

Foods that are blue will help sooth and activate your throat chakra. Making blue foods such as blueberries or blackberries into smoothies is a powerful way to assist your fifth chakra into maximum health. Blueberries and blackberries mixed with coconut water would be considered a throat chakra healing liquid. Also consider orchard fruits like apples, pears, and plums.

3) Nurture the Neck and Shoulders

The neck supports the throat and the shoulders support the neck so it goes without saying that these parts of your body deserves positive attention. There are simple shoulder and neck exercises you can do to keep the vertebrae in the neck well lubricated.

For instance, gazing over your shoulders, moving your head from side to side gently for a few moments is something practiced in Kundalini yoga to help with throat chakra stimulation.

Another source of pleasant stimulation is to get a neck and shoulder massage. Not only will it relax you but it also helps increase blood flow to your neck and throat.

4) Sacral Chakra Sights, Sounds, and Smells

The throat chakra is connected to the color blue. Immersing yourself into the blues that nature offers can be deeply healing. Dive into a lake, river, or ocean if it’s available to you. Immersing yourself fully into water is healing for every part of you. Lay on the grass and look up to the blue sky on a sunny day.

Wear jewelry made from crystals and stones like lapis lazuli, turquoise, blue kyanite aquamarine, or sapphire. These stones can also be carried in a pocket, hung round your neck in a pouch and if you are a woman even tucked into your bear.

5) Chanting to Promote Throat Chakra Opening and Cleansing

There are chants for every chakra but the throat chakra is most affected by sound healing.

The vibration of humming or chanting the sound “Eye” and the mantra tone “Ham” is deeply healing for your fifth chakra. Chanting “Ham” particularly tones the throat and strengthens the vocal cords.  Listening to the natural sounds of crickets and singing insects is also beneficial.

Use these techniques  daily to heal imbalances in your Throat Chakra.  You will be delighted by the changes you experience.
